Classic and Colonial Railings

How far apart should the posts be installed?

When measuring for post installation, the measurement given is from center of one post to the center of the next, NOT the distance between the posts. Measure the exact length of the section before installing the posts.

What is a locking plate and how do I install it?

It is a rectangular piece of plastic with rounded corners. It must be screwed into the top rail from the inside of the post. This will provide a stronger connection to the posts and will prevent the rail from sliding out.

What type of post should be used between two consecutive stair sections?

You must use a stair post between two consecutive stair sections.

Do the holes on the stair posts need to be enlarged?

They may need to be enlarged depending on the angle of your stairs (the steeper the angle, the larger the holes need to be). Widen the top hole towards the bottom and the bottom hole towards the top.

How do I install reglar sections at an angle?
